FAQ
What is the difference between exact age and calendar-year age?
Exact age goes up only after your birthday has passed. Calendar-year age is this year minus the birth year, so it goes up on January 1 regardless of the birthday. Since June 2023 Korea officially uses exact age, but some Korean laws and systems still use calendar-year age.
I was born on February 29.
In years without February 29, the birthday is taken as February 28. In leap years, it is February 29.
How are "N years M months D days" counted?
Months are added to the birth date as long as the result does not pass the reference date, and the remainder is counted in days. If the added month has no such day, the last day of that month is used.
What changes if I change the reference date?
Use it to see the age as of a specific day, such as a start date or an exam date. Days lived and days until the next birthday also change accordingly.
