If it does not work
Table looks broken?
- If the warning above the result says it was read as one column, the pasted text has no tab, comma or | separators. Copy it again from the spreadsheet.
- If rows have different numbers of cells, the missing ones are filled with blanks. Check for empty cells in the source.
- If the Markdown table looks wrong, set alignment to "Left" and copy again.
FAQ
Where do I copy from?
Select a range in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, copy it (Ctrl+C) and paste it here. Cells separated by tabs are read as a table right away. CSV file contents or a Markdown table from elsewhere also work.
Number columns are right-aligned.
With alignment set to "Auto", columns containing only numbers or amounts (1,000 / 12% / $3,000) are right-aligned. To keep everything on the left, set alignment to "Left".
Can I paste it into Word or a blog editor as a table?
Set the format to HTML, press [Copy formatted] and paste; it goes in as a table. For editors where that does not work, use [Download HTML file] and load it in the editor's HTML mode.
What about line breaks or | characters inside a cell?
In Markdown, line breaks become <br> and | becomes \|. HTML uses <br>, and CSV wraps the cell in quotes to keep it as is.
