FAQ
What are tracking values, and why remove them?
Values like utm_source, fbclid and si tell ad and analytics tools where and by whom a link was shared. They are not needed to open the link. Removing them shortens the address and stops information about the sharer from travelling with it.
The cleaned link does not open.
The "Everything after ?" option can remove values the page needs, such as a video id. With "Tracking only", the tool removes only known tracking values. If it still does not open, use the original link.
Why are bit.ly or other short links not expanded?
Expanding a short link requires asking its server for the real address. This tool makes no network requests and works only on your device, so short links are left as they are.
Which values are removed?
Values starting with utm_, ad tracking values such as fbclid and gclid, and site-specific ones we have confirmed, like YouTube si, Instagram igsh, Naver NaPm and Coupang traceid. Addresses wrapped by Google, Facebook or Outlook are replaced with the original address inside. The names of removed values are listed under the result for each link.
About this tool
A tool that finds tracking values such as utm_, fbclid and si on YouTube, Instagram and shop links and removes them, and unwraps addresses wrapped by ads and email links back to the original. It shows what was removed for each link. Your text is not sent to a server or stored.
